Things I adore...

Tory Burch's new home collection. Tory Burch is certainly taking over with the recent launches of her new beauty and home collections. I love her home collection particularly because you get to see more of her quirky side--these needlepoint pillows are so cheeky. Shop the full collection here. 

The new HarpersBazaar.com. The magazine just relaunched their website this week--and it is gorgeous. I could spend hours playing with all the elegant and innovative features. 

C. Wonder Friends + Family Sale. I have been a C. Wonder devotee ever since I scored the perfect navy quilted jacket with a hot pink lining for 75% off last Black Friday. I jump at the sign of any sale. I've been eyeing their sweaters, especially the adorable Scottie Intarsia. 

Something I don't adore: Conde Nast discontinuing its internship program. Conde Nast announced this week that it will be discontinuing its internship program next year. I can't even begin to say how disappointed I am--this is what I've been working towards since my freshman year of high school, when I decided I wanted to go to college in New York to pursue internships at the most well-known fashion magazines. Things I adore...

Fall treats. Fall is my favorite time of the school year. Nothing is better than the crisp weather that's just perfect for pairing a cable knit sweater with worn-in boots. Lately my roommates have been coming back with plenty of treats from home, including freshly picked pumpkins and hot-out-of-the-oven apple cider donuts (which I love, and I sincerely lament the fact that we don't have them in California). How (Exactly) to Look Like a French Girl. This beauty feature by Refinery29 is cheeky and cute (and completely helpful). Who doesn't want to look like a French girl?

SoulCycle. I've heard about SoulCycle from other bloggers for ages, but I've never had the opportunity to take a class. Until recently. One of my sisters in my sorority works at the SoulCycle studio in Scarsdale, and was able to secure a free month of classes for students at our college. I am in LOVE. It's so painful, but so exhilarating all at once. I am definitely going to mourn my loss the day these free classes end. 

The Sartorialist: Fall inspiration. The Sartorialist used to be the first website that I visited every day in high school. It was my style bible. I haven't been checking it as much lately, and it's definitely something I regret. I was perusing the site today and this photo resonated with me most--I feel like it captures the style I want to channel this fall exactly. Sign me up for grunge-y plaids, leather boots and paradoxical cable-knit sweaters.

J. Crew Extra 40% Off Final Sale. Need I say more? Head over to the site fast, before all of the best pieces are gone! 

Matchbook Magazine. I have followed Matchbook Magazine since its inception, and with each issue it gets better and better. I am definitely a Matchbook girl. 

Recruitment week. Recruitment week is always one of the weeks I look forward to most during the semester. You're instantly reminded each night why you joined Greek life, and why you fell in love with your sorority. Accepting Phi Sigma Sigma's bid has been one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I can't wait to see how the best will get better tonight at bid night. 

Pompeii. I have been listening to all of Pompeii's music on repeat lately. They have such on-point albums that you can't help but listen to all the way through. It's the perfect music to study to, or relax to on a rainy fall day. Check them out on Spotify.

Things I adore...

The Pacific Coast Highway. When I stumbled across this picture on Pinterest, I thought it must be the coast of a foreign country. Much to my surprise, I saw it was of the Pacific Coast Highway that runs along the coast of my very own home state. The PCH is easily one of the most beautiful drives in America--and this photo has me yearning to go back. 

Ernest Hemingway. I love all things Hemingway. He had such an interesting life, and its obvious that much of his writing stemmed from it. This summer, I read The Paris Wife by Paula McLain which is written from the perspective of Hemingway's wife, Hadley. It's a great leisure read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't know much about Hemingway. I love the quote above.

J. Crew Camp Socks. Acclimating to New York winters has certainly been interesting. Growing up in the state that has no seasons certainly did not prepare me for when I would have to walk to class in several inches of snow. During my freshman year, my mom came across these camp socks at J. Crew and mailed them to me. My feet haven't been cold ever since. They're currently on sale here. 

Domino Magazine is back! When Domino folded in 2009, I was just beginning to avidly follow magazines. I am extremely excited that they are publishing in print again, with the holiday issue due out on newsstands Oct. 8.  

I adore...

Sweater weather. Being that I'm from California, my childhood was largely spent experiencing only two seasons: summer and winter. On the west coast, the leaves do not change and pumpkin spice lattes are not an inescapable phenomenon. After moving to New York for school, I now treasure the fall season and the amazing transitional weather that comes with it. I will be wearing skirts and sweaters for as long as I can without the threat of frostbite. 

Julianne Moore covers InStyle. Julianne Moore is one of my favorite leading ladies right now in Hollywood. The media always likes to talk about aging actresses and how the profession becomes tricky as women pass their thirties, but I think this quote by Moore handles the issue perfectly: 

“I can’t complain. I’ve been pretty lucky. And I think the more we talk about it, the more we make it real. I hate being asked this stuff! Let’s appreciate where we are. Let’s not wish our lives away.”

Jenna Lyons' essentials. Jenna Lyons has completely transformed J. Crew. I love getting any chance to see how her mind works and what she's inspired by--check out this GQ.com feature if you do, too.

San Francisco. When my mind wanders, I find it wandering more and more to San Francisco. I've been thinking a lot about California lately, and this city that I may have a renewed love for. I love finding SF inspiration on Victoria Smith's blog, sfgirlbybay.

New York Fashion Week. Yesterday marked the first day of New York Fashion Week for Spring 2014. I haven't kept up with fashion week in recent seasons, but for some reason I am really excited about this season's shows. Follow along at Style.com with me! (Image via Lilly Pulitzer)

Jennifer Lawrence for Miss Dior. Jennifer Lawrence's latest campaign for Miss Dior is truly gorgeous. The effortless nature of this bare-faced beauty is stunning, and very refreshing. Sometimes less really is more. 

Audrey Hepburn by Steven Meisel. Audrey Hepburn has been one of my greatest role models for as long as I remember, and these images of her from 1991 inspired me even more. She was truly a remarkable woman, embracing age with grace and ease.

Baseball caps and J. Crew. It's no secret that I am a major fan of J. Crew. I instantly fall in love with their styling, and lately I've been following their blog obsessively. I never used to wear baseball caps before, but I received one as a gift this summer and this post makes me want more. They're just so effortlessly cool.

NYC Grid. NYC Grid is fascinating. The website catalogues now and then photos of New York City, and places a yellow handle in the middle of the split photo to allow the user to drag to see one photo more than the other. 

Amanda Catherine Designs. I have a penchant for old-fashioned pencils. I think there's something romantic about them, even though I hardly use them. I would love these as a gentle reminder on my desk--work hard and be kind is my mantra. If I were to buy these, I would have to pick up several other sets by Amanda.

Warby Parker. I have adored Warby Parker for quite some time now. It's impossible not to--with $95 frames, endless choices and their mission to give a pair every time one is bought is incredibly attractive. This past weekend I was shopping with my mom in SoHo and stumbled across their showroom... needless to say the Wilkie in Whiskey Tortoise will soon be on my doorstep.

Madewell's fall collection. I am in love with the Madewell girl. She seems to be just the right mix of effortlessly casual and elegant. Their new fall collection only proves this more, and the styling is impeccable. As a California girl, I love the incorporation of Vans with some of the higher-end pieces. And I also love the theme of 'Wildly Simple.'

Tory Burch. I love reading about inspiring and successful businesswomen. I have always been fascinated by Tory Burch's story, and I highly recommend this profile by the New York Times.

Pops of pink. As I am decorating my new room, I find myself drawn to pops of pink. I love this Etsy shop that offers completely personalized watercolor prints. 

This speech by Ashton Kutcher. It is a completely inspiring speech from an unexpected source. "So build a life. Don't live one--build one." 

Navy blue riding boots. Can you tell I love Tory Burch? I love that these classic riding boots are made fresh by their navy blue color. Navy or nothing is my motto.

Take the time.

With every moment that passes, I realize more and more that it's the little things that matter the most. Perhaps my most favorite thing in the world is when I can make someone else smile; it doesn't get any better than that. 

Going to college across the country has been nothing short of a humbling experience. I have grown to learn that the most important thing you spend is not money but time. Even if you can only give someone a few moments of your time, it's automatically better than any present you could buy.

Time is irreplaceable. You can't get it back if you wasted it. You must spend it wisely. 

By giving someone a moment of your time, you're showing that you care. You're showing that they mean something to you. You're spreading love, in its most basic form. And I believe that's the greatest thing that we can do in life, spreading love. 

These days, it seems like its increasingly difficult to manage our time. We believe we never have enough, and yet we still find ourselves spending it on things and people that we could care less about. We become so obsessed with reaching a certain goal, or an ideal life, that we lose sight of what has and continues to support us. 

We look ahead instead of looking around us. 

In my final few days of summer on the west coast, I am trying to spend my time wisely--by spreading love. Family and friends come first. They are my heart, my home. The least I can do is give them a moment of my time.

Decorating with pink. Lately, I've been loving the trend of pink accents in interiors. Lonny Magazine's slideshow has inspired me to incorporate the color into my bedroom in my new apartment (with lots of white and grey as well). 

Woody Allen's life lessons. Esquire Magazine recently did a feature on Woody Allen and what he's learned over the 77 years of his life. I particularly like his point about showers. 

Eva Chen for Lucky Magazine. I have been in love with Eva since her early days at Teen Vogue. After hearing her speak at Teen Vogue Fashion University my freshman year, she became my ultimate role model. Now, she's being heralded as the first Editor in Chief of our generation by the New York Times. Read her first editor's letter for Lucky here. 

Lara Casey. I love everything that Lara Casey does. From her constantly inspirational blog, Southern Weddings Magazine, and so much more, she never fails to remind me how beautiful life is and how we can work to make it even more beautiful. Make life happen.
